P4L Pupil Voice and Action

Senior School

It has been so nice having the children back in School and hearing about the potential new activities they would like at SVPS.

Our question this week, ‘when do you feel you are best as a learner?’ gave the students an opportunity to reflect on their learning experiences and when they felt they learnt best. They were given five options; when listening, when sharing ideas, when working with others, when working alone or when being challenged. Year 6 discussed their reasoning and had some really mature and sensible ideas on how we could improve learning in the classroom and the wellbeing of our environment. They will be submitting some of these ideas to our Senior Management Team in due course.

This week has also seen our ‘Action Team’ club commence, starting with some of our Year 4 pupils planning an ‘Electro Club’. They had to first present a brief, with a clear objective and intended outcomes for their club. They also had to think about what resources they would need and how they would make their club ‘Covid-safe’. These clubs are organised and run by the pupils, with a member of staff on stand-by to guide and support them, only if needed. Other clubs set to take place over the forthcoming weeks include Dodgeball, a Mathematics and English Club, The Amazingly Fun Sports Club and an Eco Committee, which has devised ways and strategies for our School to reduce our carbon footprint. A huge well done to all of the students involved.
