On Wednesday, the Third Form went on a Geography trip to Howletts Animal Park in Canterbury. The pupils represented the School brilliantly, and both the park keepers and members of the public commented on how polite and well-behaved they were.
Tilly M said: “On Wednesday, we had the pleasure of going to the Howletts Animal Park in Canterbury. This was a trip run by the Geography department to help us improve and strengthen our knowledge of animal adaptations and biomes. We started with a talk by one of the very experienced keepers. This lecture consisted of information about the different habitats and which animals resided there. We were also asked questions about different animals and how they adapted, including sharks, meerkats and leopards. This lecture was extremely informative and helped us broaden our knowledge about different ecosystems. We then had the opportunity to walk around the enclosures. Some of us were lucky enough to listen to another talk on the different elephants, their adaptations both physical and social and their cheeky personalities. We even learnt that these elephants like to throw grass on their heads and wear it as a hat sometimes! We then finished the tour with lemurs, lions and monkeys. Some highlights have to be the baby monkeys and the fishing cat!”
