This week, our Wellbeing Ambassadors were in action, delivering a fantastic carousel of activities for our Third Form Transition Day, centred around our school wellbeing framework, The 5 Ways to Wellbeing. I felt incredibly proud of our pupils, who had thoughtfully prepared and facilitated their sessions to ensure they were engaging, inclusive and created meaningful opportunities for connection, teamwork and the development of positive relationships.
We also met with the Prefect Team this week to prepare for an upcoming assembly exploring ‘The Power of Words’. The Prefects will be sharing personal reflections on moments when someone’s words have lifted their mood, increased their confidence, and helped them feel valued, as well as times when words have had a more negative impact. I have no doubt this will be a powerful and meaningful assembly.
This assembly will mark the beginning of our new school-wide campaign encouraging us all to think carefully about the language we use and to recognise the impact our words can have on others. Words carry significant weight, and we hope this campaign will help pupils develop greater awareness of how they can use their words to support, encourage and positively influence those around them.
Coming up on the Wellbeing Hub this week (which parents have access to as part of the School subscription):
Nurturing Resilience: Nine Ways Families and Schools Can Help Children Thrive
In this insightful presentation, Dr Ungar explores the idea that children’s resilience is not simply an individual ability to overcome challenges, but is also shaped by the support systems around them. He highlights the important role families, schools and communities play in helping young people access the resources they need for their wellbeing, in ways that feel meaningful and supportive to them. The session explores what resilience looks like for children from different backgrounds and offers nine practical strategies that parents, carers and educators can use to help young people navigate challenges and thrive.
