Wellbeing Tip of the Week

This week, pupils have been taking part in voting for their favourite slogan as we prepare to launch a whole-school campaign focused on the power of language. As a community, we are encouraging greater awareness of how the words we choose can either build others up or cause harm. The campaign aims to promote language that reflects respect, kindness and inclusion, and the chosen slogan will become a central message within our school community.

Pupils have also been completing their wellbeing surveys this week. Following completion, they receive an individual report offering a snapshot of their current wellbeing, alongside encouragement to identify one small, realistic goal to support positive change. We know that even simple adjustments (such as drinking more water, spending less time on screens before bed, or getting to sleep slightly earlier) can have a significant impact over time. I have had some wonderful conversations with pupils this week who wanted to reflect on their reports and explore small, manageable steps they could take to improve their wellbeing.

As we approach the final week of term, our wellbeing data consistently shows that this can be a time when friendship difficulties become more common. Tiredness, busy schedules and the natural need for personal space can sometimes lead to increased irritability and misunderstandings between young people. As parents and carers, it can often feel difficult to know when to step in, how much guidance to offer, or when to allow children to resolve situations independently. With this in mind, we have included a helpful guide which we hope will offer reassurance and practical support.
