Wellbeing Tip of the Week

As we begin the Summer Term, it has been a pleasure to welcome your sons and daughters back after the break.

In PSHE this week, our First and Second Form pupils have started a new unit on self-esteem and confidence. It has been wonderful to hear them reflect on their individual strengths, alongside thoughtful discussions about the negative impact of comparing ourselves to others.

Third Form pupils have begun their new topic on consent. This week, lessons focused on the law and the sharing of explicit images. The pupils approached this subject with curiosity and maturity and I was particularly impressed by the thoughtful questions they raised.

Our Fourth Form pupils have now completed their unit on mental health, which concluded with research into the range of support services available to young people in the UK. They explored helplines such as Kooth, SHOUT and The Mix, all of which offer valuable support. We have also discussed the importance of encouraging young people to seek help through these trusted services, particularly as AI chatbots are becoming increasingly popular.

I have recently seen a new resource from the National College which provides helpful online safety tips and advice for parents and educators. I have attached the resource for advice on app and play stores which I hope will be useful.

On the Teen Tips Wellbeing Hub (available free of charge to parents through the School’s subscription) you can find a range of recently released webinars and podcasts, all of which are still accessible to watch or listen to.
