Here is an update on some of the learning that has taken place this week.
Consent Education
This week, our Second Form pupils took part in a lesson focused on consent. We began by exploring consent in everyday contexts, such as borrowing belongings or sharing photographs of others online, before moving on to discussions around sexual consent and the relevant laws. Pupils approached these conversations with maturity and thoughtfulness and the sessions provided an important opportunity to develop understanding, respect and personal responsibility.
The Power of Language
In assembly and breakout sessions, our Junior pupils have been focusing on the power of language and how words can shape their experience of school. Emphasis has been placed on the idea that their year group is a community, and that kindness, care and supportive communication play a significant role in creating a positive and inclusive environment. Pupils will continue this work with their tutors, with a particular focus on empathy and understanding others’ perspectives.
