Head’s Lines – 16.12.22

Prep School
16 Dec 22

As the School breaks up for the Christmas holidays (albeit Little Lambs Nursery will continue to operate until Wednesday 21st December), we can look back on a busy and varied term. We have just held the final assembly of term with children from Reception to Year 6 there to celebrate, the first time all of these year groups have come together in an assembly since the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, which happened so soon after the start of term in September. The mood then was sombre and respectful; the mood today was rather more jubilant and raucous!

This week has also seen a snow day, a festive pantomime trip, Nursery Christmas parties, a wonderful Carol Service and a hearty Christmas lunch to name but a few occasions. We have been missing a few children and staff throughout too, either due to the weather or illness. Needless to say, we hope the weather warming up this weekend and reduced mingling after the end of term will see a swift return to health and normality for all. Tomorrow will also see the publishing of the end of term reports for Reception to Year 6 and the School calendar for the Lent Term (as well as a few important dates for the Summer Term).

In our assemblies this week, we have also said thank you and goodbye to three members of staff who will shortly be leaving us: Miss Clark, who has worked as a Gap Student this term, will be embarking upon a degree in Medicine after some travelling; Mr Douglas, who has worked as a Gap Student since January 2022 and will be embarking upon a degree in Engineering back home in Australia; and Miss Farrell, who has worked as a Nursery and Office Assistant and will be embarking upon a degree in Geography and Economics after some travelling. All three have been brilliant role models for the children, kind, courteous and dedicated, and we wish them all the very best for their exciting futures. Next term, we will be joined by two more Gap Students, and I will introduce them at the start of next term.

In the meantime, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we will look forward to seeing you in 2023!
