Headmaster’s Headlines – 30.09.22

Senior School
30 Sep 22

We are now certainly in the swing of things here and have enjoyed a ‘normal routine’ week for the first time this term (although I am still not sure if there is ever a ‘normal’ week at SVS)!

Tomorrow, we will have a prospective student Open Morning and we are expecting around 200 visitors to the School. Later in the day we are also welcoming around 50 Old Suttonians for a special OS Open Day; it will be fascinating to hear their thoughts about how things may or may not have changed. I always enjoy being able to share this special place with guests and I am sure that the students who will be looking after the various visitors will do us proud!

We had a very positive and constructive Upper Sixth Parents’ Evening earlier in the week and next week Lower Sixth parents are able to come to School to meet with Mr Ellmers, Mrs Ball and the Heads of Department to hear about Sixth Form life on Thursday night.

Our push on student leadership opportunities continues with our STEM students presenting in Headmaster’s Assembly today, our Wellbeing Ambassador students have begun their Mental Health First Aid training, and we have almost completed the selection process for our new Subject Ambassador programme (more about that in a couple of weeks…). Do take a couple of minutes to read the speeches from this term’s Heads of School – Katie and James are wise beyond their years.

Best wishes for the windy weekend ahead.
