At the end of August the Sutton Valence Equestrian Team took part in the Hickstead Championships and achieved some outstanding results across Juniors, Seniors and Sixth Form pupils.

Hickstead results:

  • 70cm Warm-Up: Lottie L (Third Form) – 7th
  • 70cm Individual Championship: Lottie L – 6th; Harry S (Third Form) – 10th out of 52 competitors
  • 70cm Qualifier: Mia P (Second Form) – 7th, qualifying for the Addington Championships in October
  • 80cm Qualifier: George S (Lower Sixth) – 1st out of 34 competitors, also qualifying for Addington

The following weekend a number of riders travelled to Felbridge in Sussex for further Show Jumping competition:

  • Ava B (Second Form) joined the 70cm team for the first time. Although not placed this time, she rode with determination and it is fantastic to have her as part of the squad.
  • Mia P (Second Form) also rode in the 70cm class, finishing inside the top 20.
  • Harriet P (Fifth Form) delivered a strong round in the 80cm but was kept out of the rosettes after rolling a pole.
  • Olivia L (Second Form) took part in the Jumping with Style qualifiers, which combine Show Jumping and Cross Country fences. She produced two excellent rounds, finishing 4th in the 90cm and 1st in the 1m class, both qualifying for the Addington Championships in October.

Well done to all riders across both events for an excellent start to the season. The results reflect the commitment, skill and hours of training that go into preparing both horses and riders to compete successfully at this level.
