On Wednesday, the Prep School observed Armistice Day with a ceremony held on the Head's Lawn. The commemorations began the day before with 5E presenting a suitably reverential assembly on the subject of remembrance to the Prep Department.
On Armistice Day itself, the pupils were all wearing poppies, some designed by themselves and Mr Evans. At 11am we observed the national two minutes’ silence on the Head’s Lawn, which the children upheld impeccably. Trumpeters from the Senior School played the Last Post from the balcony overlooking the lawn, and the pupils listened as Max Reeves and Ethan Wynne (both Year 6) gave a moving reading about two soldiers from Chart Sutton, who had died a hundred years ago during the conflict.
