For Huddy C (First Form), the welcoming atmosphere has made an immediate impression:
“Westminster House is so friendly. Everybody makes friends quickly and welcomes people, no matter where they’re from or what they believe. There is a true family spirit in the House, and everyone has each other’s back.
Although moving from Sutton House to Westminster has been a big change, it has been a chance to experience a completely different way of boarding. As the sign by Centre Block says, ‘This is a school where nobody is as important as everybody.’ I think that rings true in Westminster too.
I’ve only been in the House for two weeks, but it already feels like a family of friends and laughter. Whenever I’m lost, whether mentally or physically, I know I can always turn to the House for help.”
Iskra J (Upper Sixth) reflected on the emotions surrounding the move and the excitement of new beginnings:
“When we first heard the news about moving to a different boarding house, we could only think of how weird it is going to feel like living anywhere else but in Sutton. With so many great memories which had shaped our experience of the house to look back on, everyone anticipated with worry, yet strange excitement for such change.
We managed to settle in quite nicely, and among the familiar faces of the old house, many new were introduced, the charm of our new living space. The Westminster House has got much more rooms compared to Sutton, thus offering the chance for more girls to join in to our community.
It will take some of us time to get used to the fact we’re now in this boarding house, which we remember every time we find ourselves walking towards the Sutton gates! I’m looking forward to making memories with my house mates and beginning a new chapter for the girls’ boarding.”
Together, their reflections capture the spirit of the move: a fond farewell to a much-loved House, balanced with excitement for the friendships, memories and traditions that will be created in Westminster House for years to come.
