Prep School Life

Our days are carefully shaped to give pupils structure while allowing them the freedom to explore, learn and grow.

For families who need it, the School day can run from 7.30am to 6pm through our optional wrap‑around care, offering a calm start and a relaxed end to the day within the same caring community.

Early Mornings

Breakfast is served from 7.30am until 8.00am and is available for all pupils from Nursery to Year 6 (incurring an extra charge). Children are offered a continental breakfast, along with smoothies, juices, tea and hot chocolate. Children then have supervised playtime until their lessons start.

The School Day

  • 8.15am registration, 8.30am lessons start
  • 3.30pm finish – Reception to Year 2
  • 4.10pm finish – Year 3 to Year 6

After School Clubs and Wraparound Care

Our wraparound care gives families flexibility and peace of mind while offering pupils a calm and welcoming start and end to the day. At the end of the day pupils can join after School clubs or supervised Prep sessions. Younger children can enjoy Little Suttons where they take part in art craft games puzzles and weekly themed projects. Pupils who stay later can enjoy tea with friends which creates a relaxed social end to the School day.

Reception to Year 2
For our Pre-Prep children, there is a selection of clubs from which to choose. Some clubs are run by external providers for a modest fee. Alternatively, they can join the wrap-around care programme, Little Suttons, which incurs a small charge per session. The timings of these sessions are as follows:

  • 3.35pm – 4.10pm (Session 1)
  • 4.10pm – 5.20pm (Session 2)
  • 5.20pm – 6.00pm (Tea)

Year 3 to Year 6
Our clubs offer a variety of engaging activities, allowing pupils to explore interests such as cookery, karate, STEM, bushcraft, football and philosophy. Clubs are either teacher-led and free of charge, or run by external providers for a modest fee. Alternatively, pupils can also join supervised Prep sessions from 4.30pm until 5.20pm free of charge. Pupils who stay until the end of the day can enjoy tea at School with their friends.

Catering

Mealtimes are an important part of life at the Prep. Our bright welcoming Dining Room is a shared space where pupils enjoy nutritious meals prepared with care. There are always hot options including a vegetarian choice as well as jacket potatoes a salad bar and fresh fruit. Dietary requirements are met with understanding and attention and pupils are encouraged to try new foods and enjoy eating together.

Medical Hub

Our Medical Room is located close to the main Reception and offers a quiet comfortable place for pupils to rest if they become unwell during the day. Staff hold first aid qualifications and can respond to a range of minor injuries. We keep parents informed if a child becomes unwell or is hurt and ask families to share information about any illness or injury that occurs outside School so we can continue to provide the best care.
