Nursery School Life

Every day at Sutton Valence Nursery is shaped to give young children both structure and freedom. Familiar routines help them feel secure while plenty of time is set aside for play discovery and creativity. From the moment they arrive, the day is carefully planned to balance care learning and joy.

Before School

For families who need an earlier start, our Breakfast Club opens from 7.30am (incurring a small fee) and welcomes children from Nursery to Year 6. It offers a calm friendly beginning to the day with a continental breakfast that includes fresh smoothies, juices, tea and hot chocolate. Afterwards, children enjoy a short period of relaxed supervised play which creates a gentle happy transition into the Nursery morning.

The Nursery School Day

We offer flexible sessions to support different family needs:

A typical day is filled with learning through play. Children take part in early phonics fine motor development numeracy creative arts cooking music and imaginative play all guided by caring and experienced teachers.

Our outdoor learning environment provides even more opportunity to explore and grow. Ride on toys climbing cubes the sandpit mud kitchen water play and a playhouse allow children to move imagine and create in a space that is safe stimulating and full of possibility.

A nutritious hot lunch and a healthy afternoon tea are prepared on site each day ensuring children have the energy for a full day of discovery and play.

Enriching Afternoons

As children grow more confident many choose to stay longer and continue their adventures into the afternoon. We offer a rich programme of optional sessions that extend learning in engaging and imaginative ways, perfect for curious minds and busy hands. During this time, children move freely around the wider Prep site, discovering new spaces and activities that encourage independence and exploration.

Children may explore art and design, experimenting with colour, form and texture as they express their ideas freely. Specialist French sessions introduce language through songs, stories and movement, helping children enjoy rhythm and sound in a new way.

Nurturing Minds

Food plays an important role in the rhythm of the day. All meals are prepared with fresh produce by our dedicated catering team. At lunchtime children enjoy a nutritious balanced meal which includes a salad bar fruit salad bar and dessert. Our Nursery is entirely nut free and all dietary requirements are handled with care and attention.
