As we approach the conclusion of our anniversary year, we were delighted to host one of the final celebrations – the SVS 450th Summer Fête and Car Show, held last weekend.
Building on the success of the School’s biennial car shows, this year’s event introduced a summer fête element, creating a vibrant and inclusive day for the whole community. We were fortunate to enjoy early summer sunshine, with the site full by mid-morning and welcoming over 70 cars alongside stalls, games and activities.
It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout from across the School community, including pupils, parents, staff, Old Suttonians and members of the wider village.
Highlights of the day included a wonderful performance from the Prep School Chamber Choir and an engaging talk on the history of Le Mans delivered by James Slaughter (1992 F) and Sir Paul Carter.
Congratulations to our car show winners:
-Pre-War and Vintage: 1928 Lagonda High Chassis
-Classic: 1968 Mercedes 280 SL ‘Pagoda’
-Modern Classic: 2013 Jaguar XKRS GT
-Supercar: 2016 McLaren 650S Spider
-Overall Winner (Haynes Cup): 1933 Riley Trinity 9HP
We hope that everyone who attended had an enjoyable day. Thank you to all staff for their support in the lead-up to the event and on the day itself, and to OS committee members James Slaughter (1992 F), Charles Tassell (1977 F) and Robert Sinclair (1967 M) for their invaluable support.
