Last weekend, Alfie Miles (Fourth Form) travelled to Liverpool to compete in the Horse of the Year (HOYS) Show Jumping National Championships.

He was competing in the Pony Show Jumper of the Year class, which is the most prestigious jumping class at the junior level. To qualify, riders must compete in events held around the country.

The start height is 1.35 metres, then the bars are raised to 1.4 metres if you make it through to the jump-off. Thirty ponies qualified to start, and Alfie was one of only six that made it through to the jump-off. He gave it his best shot, achieving one of only three clear rounds meaning Alfie finished in second place, missing first by just 1.2 seconds.

What an incredible result – we are very proud of you Alfie, well done.
