This week, a number of our Lower Sixth pupils successfully completed their Level 1 Mental Health First Aid training. It was a real pleasure to work with such engaged, thoughtful young people. Each pupil demonstrated genuine care and empathy and it is heartening to see our young people take such genuine interest in promoting kindness, awareness and wellbeing within their community.
Here is what some of the pupils had to say about their experience:
“I felt like I acquired the skills to help myself and others if anyone needs it”
“It made me realise how common mental health challenges are, and that starting a conversation can make a big difference.”
“The session helped me reflect on my own wellbeing too. It reminded me that looking after others starts with looking after ourselves”.
Looking ahead, on Monday 2nd December, we are delighted to welcome a guest speaker from ‘It Happens Education’, who will deliver age-appropriate sessions to our Fifth and Sixth Form pupils.
