1st XI National Plate Quarter Final

Senior School
22 Mar 23

Last Thursday, we faced Tonbridge in the quarter finals, after losing to them 4-1 the week before the boys wanted to settle the score. We started very fast and were able to win a short corner early in the game, and after a miss placed drag out, the ball fell to me at the top of the D and I was able to flick the ball into the corner to open the scoring.

However, Tonbridge managed to pull one back and make the score even yet again. We kept pushing and allowed ourselves to gain a lead of 4-2 going into half time, after Sam, Rhys, and Harry all scored, however we knew that we had struggled to hold a lead in previous games so needed to maintain our composure throughout the second half. We managed to continue to take Tonbridge apart throughout the next 30 minutes, with consistently clean tackles from Jago and James as well as Harry, myself and Otto maintaining structure. This enabled Lorcan and Rhys to continue to put pressure on the Tonbridge defence leading to them both scoring, leaving the final score 6-3.

This puts us through to the National Plate Semi Finals, for the second year in a row, where we will face the winner of the East section; Bedford or RGS High Wycombe.

I also want to say thank you for the continuous support throughout these matches.
