Children in Year 2 have been busily preparing for their Arts Showcase, which takes place on Wednesday 8th March. They have been making a large-scale art piece, based on the work of David Hockney. Six teams are each replicating a section of one of his iPad paintings, A Closer Winter Tunnel, February-March 2006.

Hockney made a series of large landscapes, including vivid depictions of Yorkshire woodland, and the children are experimenting with paint, oil pastels, paper and raffia to help recreate his work. They have been learning to self-select appropriately sized paint brushes and mix their own colours. They are excited to reveal all their finished creations at the Showcase!
