Headmaster’s Headlines – 07.10.22

Senior School
7 Oct 22

As suspected, last Saturday was a brilliant day for hundreds of people here. After a very positive prospective student Open Day in the morning (with over 200 visitors), the sun continued to shine throughout the afternoon where we enjoyed the coming together of a wide-ranging group of Old Suttonians (ranging from their 20s to their 80s) for an OS Open Afternoon, followed by a beautiful afternoon of fixtures. It was humbling and inspirational hearing the positivity and encouragement from various quarters and I lost count of the number of smiling faces that I saw.

I hope to see some Clothworkers’ parents tomorrow morning and Holdgate parents next week for our Saturday morning breakfast gatherings. Junior parents also should have the Second Form Virtual Parents’ evening on Wednesday 12th and First Form Tutor Tea on Friday 14th in their calendars. If you cannot make any of these events then please do remember to reach out to Tutors and Housemasters and Mistresses if you need anything at all.

Things certainly continue at a great pace this term and I look forward to hearing the feedback from the Student Council, Boarding Council and Food Guru groups that will meet next week. There is of course a great deal to celebrate as ever but I am always keen to hear from members of our community as to how we can make things even better.

Before we know it, it will be Half Term and I hope we can all get the best out of the next fortnight.

Mr James Thomas, Headmaster
