Christingles and Jingles

Prep School
9 Dec 22

To start our week off, the children made a Christingle, ready for our Year 1 and 2 service at St Michael and All Angels Church. A Christingle is made with an orange, red ribbon, sticks and sweets. The children learnt what each element represents through some beautiful songs that they learnt with Mrs Lordon in Music and the poem which they read to the congregation.

English for this week was based around a beautiful Christmas story by Rose Impey and Sue Porter called A Letter to Father Christmas. In the story, a little girl called Charlotte, who loves writing, accidentally sent Father Christmas a shopping list instead of her own list of presents. The children are now busy writing their own lists and will continue with their letters next week.

Children in Year 2 had a wonderful treat when Isabelle M, accompanied by Mr Tonbridge, played Jingle Bells on her ukulele. All the children joined in singing along and getting ever closer to the big day!
