Charity Song – Falling Down

Senior School
14 Feb 20

With such a wealth of talented musicians at the School, it is fantastic to promote the efforts of our Junior pupils.
Joshua Slaughter (First Form) wrote a song when he was in Year 6, called Falling Down which led to him winning the Music Composition prize at SVPS Speech Day 2019. After winning this prize, he had the opportunity to record the single at Cold Store Studios in Tonbridge. Josh was supported by other musicians, including George Abrehart (Fifth Form) on the drums.
The song explores the links between mental health and loneliness and reinforces the power of friendship. The release of this song is supporting the Sam West Foundation (samwestfoundation.org), which promotes awareness, diagnosis and treatment of mental health issues affecting children, young adults and their families. The Foundation also aims to develop teenager’s education in Music and the Arts sector.
Falling Down has been released today, which also happens to be Joshua’s 12th birthday! He is extremely proud of his song, and is excited to raise as much money as he can to support this fantastic charity. Please share this post and download his song to support The Sam West Foundation. You can download the song by clicking here – https://ditto.fm/falling-down-Joshua
