With two years of bad weather, it was a joy to be travelling to the Lake District with a week of sun being forecast and for once the forecast was right. With fabulous weather, the cadets and staff were looking forward to the week ahead.
The cadets were broken into groups and given their programme for the week. This included ghyll scrambling, canoeing, climbing and mountain biking as well as orienteering at Grizedale Forest Sculpture Park, preparation for the expedition and a two-day expedition with an overnight camp.
The week was not just about the activities, but also teamwork, communication, service to others (each group was responsible for setting up a meal and assisting with the clearing up afterwards) and developing resilience during the expedition.
Thanks to the staff who gave up a week of their holiday to assist and to all the cadets for their positive attitude and willingness to get involved.
