450th Anniversary Founder’s Day Service

18 Feb 26

On 12th February, the Sutton Valence School community came together at Westminster Abbey to mark an extraordinary milestone – 450 years since the School first began educating pupils in the Weald of Kent.

The Service of Thanksgiving offered an opportunity to look back at our history, beginning with William Lambe’s vision in 1576 and continuing through the many generations who have shaped the character of Sutton Valence School. To gather in such an iconic setting, with its historic links to our village and the de Valence family, made the occasion especially memorable.

Seeing pupils, Old Suttonians, staff and families join together underscored what makes SVS unique – a strong sense of community, a commitment to aspiration and the belief that every pupil can strive, grow and achieve.

Thank you to everyone who shared this significant moment with us. As we celebrate 450 years, we look to the future with pride, purpose and excitement.
