The U13 team headed into the Rainham tournament full of confidence after a string of strong performances in recent competitive fixtures. Although we were dealt an early blow when Isabella S injured herself before the tournament the squad adapted quickly and made some smart changes to the game plan.

The weather held out for the morning matches, and we got off to a flying start with an impressive 3–1 win against Rainham Mark’s. Dot M and Heidi T put in a brilliant defensive performance to set the tone for the day. Our next two matches were tough, closely fought contests. Despite narrow losses to King’s School (5–4) and St Dunstan’s (4–2), the team showed great determination, especially given the fast pace of the six-minute games where every centre pass counted.

In the afternoon, we were seeded into Group G and came back strong with a 4–3 win against Benenden. Confidence grew even further with a solid 4–2 victory over Bromley High School, where Lily M and Frankie F shot accurately, supported by a hardworking centre court.

We were hopeful going into our match against Sevenoaks, but a sudden rain shower made the courts extremely slippery, affecting movement and confidence. Despite battling hard, we lost 6–3. The final game against Bennett was another close encounter, ending in a 4–3 loss.

Throughout the day there were several standout performances, particularly from Dot M and Heidi T in defence. Tactical changes saw Izzy and Ava working well in attack, while Felicity and Izzy impressed in defence. Frankie and Lily continued to show great composure in the shooting circle.

Overall, the tournament was a valuable experience for the team, showcasing resilience, adaptability and strong teamwork in challenging conditions.
