U11 Boys’ Football Tournament

Prep School
3 Oct 25

On Wednesday our A team produced a fantastic set of performances, finishing joint 3rd out of 17 schools.

The group stage saw the boys start strongly with a 4–0 win over Lorenden, highlighted by long range strikes from Daniel and Oscar. This was followed by a hard-fought 1–1 draw against St Lawrence Prep in which we dominated play. The team then secured top spot in the group with a confident 2–0 victory over Claremont.

In the quarter final the boys showed great composure, drawing 0–0 with Rose Hill before holding their nerve in a tense penalty shootout to win 3–2. The semi final was another close battle, ending 0–0 against Hilden Grange before a narrow 2–1 defeat on penalties.

This result left us in joint third place overall, a tremendous achievement against strong competition. The whole squad was superb, showing huge improvement since the IAPS tournament on Monday. The team played quick intelligent football and created chance after chance. Oscar finished as our top scorer. Luca controlled the game as playmaker. Toby and Magnus impressed on their A team debuts. A special mention goes to Zac who made crucial saves in the penalty shootouts.

It was a brilliant day of football and a performance the team can be proud of.
