Year 2 had a wild adventure at the Big Cat Sanctuary. From the moment they arrived the children were immersed in the world of fabulous felines, learning about the 15 species of wild cats that call the sanctuary home. They discovered that big cats roar rather than meow, explored real skulls, teeth, claws and fur and learnt about the different habitats these animals live in from jungles to mountains.
They also found out how deforestation and global warming are making life harder for these incredible creatures and discussed ways they can help such as recycling, saving energy and creating habitats for wildlife at home.
Highlights of the trip included meeting rescued Ukrainian lions and seeing jaguars, pumas and lynxes up close. The biggest star of the day was Willow the cheetah who amazed everyone with her speed.
The children returned to school buzzing with excitement, full of new knowledge and inspired to take action to protect the planet.
