Last Saturday saw nine members of the 1st XI squad travel to Canterbury for an exciting morning of hockey.
The King’s School Canterbury hosted a friendly six-a-side tournament featuring three of their own teams, two teams from St Lawrence College and one from the Duke of York’s.
After two tough opening games against the King’s and St Lawrence 1st squads, the girls soon found their rhythm. They went unbeaten in their remaining four matches, scoring freely and not conceding a single goal. One of the tournament rules stated that once a team led 2–0, any further goals meant the scorer had to leave the pitch. The 1st XI were so clinical in front of goal that on three occasions they were reduced to just three players against a full team of six, yet still dominated.
Their commanding performances secured top spot in the league table on goal difference, making them the winners of the very first edition of the tournament.
Congratulations to all involved on an excellent morning of hockey and teamwork.
