An annual end of term tradition, this year’s whole School Baton Race was won by Holdgate for Seniors, Founder’s for Inters and Lambe’s for the Juniors. Yesterday, the whole school gathered on the Village Green, singing hymns and offering prayers as the Headmaster accepted a single red rose on behalf of the School. Celebrated each Midsummer Day since 1957, the annual Rose Ceremony marks the symbolic rent paid by Sutton Valence Parish Council for the 99-year lease of the Village Green and is a cherished reminder of the bond between the School and the Parish.
