Looking after our Bees

Senior School

At the end of Summer Term, First Form pupils were studying the importance of bees and other pollinating insects in their Science lessons. As part of a larger, nationwide conservation effort, pupils were set the challenge of designing and creating their own bee hotels in their gardens at home.

This not only provided a more practical-based learning opportunity during the lockdown period but also gave pupils the chance to get involved in a critical conservation project to help increase the numbers of these important biological species. The photo above is a picture of the excellent bee hotel that Grace Manning-Greene (Second Form) created.
