School Life in Sixth Form
Pupils benefit from dedicated Sixth Form areas for study and social time, giving them space to work independently and unwind with friends. Tutors and Heads of Sixth Form provide personalised guidance and help pupils learn to manage their time, workload and wellbeing.
Chapel and Assembly
Chapel remains an important gathering space for reflection, debate and shared experience. Pupils attend services, talks and assemblies that encourage them to think deeply, act kindly and engage with ideas beyond the curriculum.
Clubs, Societies and Culture
A wide range of clubs and societies are open to Sixth Form pupils, from debating and public speaking to coding, photography, fitness, art, choirs and drama. Cultural trips, exhibitions, theatre visits and study tours broaden horizons and deepen curiosity.
Wellbeing and Support
Pastoral care in the Sixth Form is strong and proactive. Tutors, teachers and the pastoral team work closely together to guide pupils through the academic and personal demands of Sixth Form life. Wellbeing support, counselling and mentoring are available for pupils who need additional help.
A Sense of Belonging
Sixth Form pupils are role models across the School. They help uphold the values of kindness, respect and responsibility and enrich the life of the community through leadership, mentoring and everyday interactions. The relationships formed here often last far beyond Sixth Form itself.
In exchange for their contributions to the extensive academic and enrichment programmes on offer, the Sixth Form enjoy an active social life, including their own self-service café, TC’s, during break times. Community contribution and charitable initiatives are important aspects of life at Sutton Valence and our Sixth Form cohort enjoy the opportunity to serve on various committees and take on numerous whole-School and House leadership positions – the highlight being the annual black-tie charity Spring Gala.
In their Upper Sixth year, pupils have the opportunity to apply for the coveted position of School Prefect – a role that embodies the core values of respect and responsibility that are cherished at Sutton Valence, and which may result in being selected for Head of School by the Headmaster.
