Cadet RSM Tunnicliff Takes Part in Whitehall Takeover
As part of National Cadets Week 2026, Cadet RSM Tunnicliff was invited to London to take part in the prestigious Whitehall Takeover, following his recent success in winning the Captain General’s Trophy in the Champion Cadet Competition. During the week, cadets have been helping to raise awareness of the opportunities, experiences and lifelong skills gained through participation in the Cadet Forces.
The visit provided Cadet RSM Tunnicliff with the opportunity to represent both Sutton Valence School CCF and the wider cadet movement. Pictured during the event with Calvin Bailey, Minister for Veterans and People, and Major Prem Ale (Retd), former SSI at Sutton Valence School CCF and current CFAV, he was among those showcasing the positive impact cadet experiences can have on young people.
National Cadets Week, which runs from 5 to 11 October, celebrates the achievements of cadets and volunteers across the UK, highlighting the confidence, leadership, teamwork and friendships developed through cadet service.
Cadet RSM Tunnicliff’s invitation to the Whitehall Takeover is a fitting recognition of his outstanding achievement as Champion Cadet and a proud moment for the School’s Combined Cadet Force.
