Prep Entry (4+)

Children often begin their Prep journey in Reception during the September following their fourth birthday, although places do occasionally become available in other year groups. We are always happy to hear from families who would like to enquire about mid-year admissions or entry at other stages.

Registration Process

To apply for a place in our Prep School, we ask families to complete a simple two stage registration process. Most families complete this during the year before entry.

Stage One: Register with the School

Please complete our online registration form and pay the non refundable registration fee of £120 per child. Once we have received your form, our Admissions Team will contact you with the next steps and arrange a taster visit.

When submitting this form, you will be expected to provide a copy of your child’s passport or birth certificate.

Stage Two: Attend a Taster Visit

Pupils from Year 1 upwards are invited to spend a full day with us. This visit allows your child to experience lessons, meet new friends and gain a sense of belonging in our community. Each pupil is paired with a buddy who shares similar interests and will join them throughout the day. During the visit, we carry out gentle, age appropriate assessments. These help us understand your child’s strengths and any areas where additional support may be helpful. This also ensures that Sutton Valence School is the right fit academically and socially.

Reception aged pupils are invited to join a shorter Stay and Play session designed to help them settle in a warm and engaging environment.

Offer of a Place

If the taster visit is successful, we will send an offer of a place together with details of fees, term dates and conditions. For pupils transferring from schools within the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools, we work closely with their current school to ensure a smooth transition.

Acceptance of a Place

To accept your offer, a deposit of £500 is required. Families then commit to paying termly fees with a one term notice period. Full details are available in our Parent Contract.
