Hockey Update

The hockey term has seen many strong successes across all teams so far. The 1st XI had a strong start to the season at the Mel Clewlow Tournament. Having a very different team to the previous year, we knew it may take some time to become familiar with playing together. However, excellent teamwork and a strong work rate from the whole team meant that no goals were conceded throughout the day. The team was pleased to finish confidently in first place after many strong performances, using the opportunity well to connect as a new team and prepare for the season ahead.
So far, SVS has competed in six tournaments, of which we have won three and placed either second or third in the others. These successes include the U13A team winning the Sevenoaks Invitational Tournament, and the U14A team winning the Kent Tier 2 Tournament, having also not conceded any goals throughout the day. They will head to the regionals next half term.
The indoor season has got off to a similarly strong start for both the U16s and U18s. This year, both tournaments were hosted at home. Both the U16s and U18s saw success, each finishing second. This means they have both qualified for the regionals, which will take place after half term.
Both the 1st XI and U13A teams have been working hard to secure further success in the National Cup. The U13 girls are into the last 16 of the National Cup and are currently unbeaten after eight games, having already scored an impressive 50 goals. The 1st XI team also remain unbeaten, having played and won all eight games so far against a mix of strong sides. The team has scored a total of 26 goals, with just two conceded.
On top of this, the U13C and U13D teams are also undefeated, with a combined unbeaten run of 16 games.
Overall, it has been a very busy and exciting start to the hockey term at Sutton Valence. We look forward to picking up where we left off after half term, ready to continue working hard and extend our winning streaks, with a particular focus on the National Cup. Congratulations also to everyone selected for the Team of the Half Term.
