First Form Trip to Chatham Dockyard
As part of Field Day, First Form pupils enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to Chatham Historic Dockyard, where they explored historic ships, discovered life at sea and learned about Britain’s maritime heritage.
Reflecting on the visit, Oluwadunni T wrote:
“First we went onto a destroyer, where our tour guides showed us where sailors slept, ate and worked. Then we explored another ship, which looked a bit like a pirate ship, and even got to ring the bells! We also visited a submarine and looked through the periscope, learning about life on board and how little water submariners could use each day. Later, we went into the museum and watched videos about shipbuilders and sailors. My favourite part of the whole trip was the gift shop! If you haven’t been to Chatham Dockyard, you definitely should.”
The trip provided a fascinating insight into naval history and gave pupils a memorable opportunity to experience life aboard historic vessels firsthand.
