Ireland Rugby Tour

The Senior Rugby squad enjoyed an excellent pre-season tour to Ireland, beginning with a very early 3.45am departure from school. Despite the early start, spirits were high as the group travelled to Limerick for several days of rugby, training and team development.
The tour provided the boys with plenty of opportunities to get back onto the rugby field and prepare for the season ahead, while also making use of the outstanding sporting facilities at the University of Limerick. The quality of the facilities and training environment provided an excellent setting for the squad to work together both on and off the pitch.
A particular highlight was the opportunity to visit Munster Rugby’s High Performance Centre, based at the university. The squad were fortunate enough to tour the training facilities and meet a number of Munster coaches and players, providing a memorable insight into a professional rugby environment.
The rugby programme culminated in a pre-season training fixture against the famous Garryowen RFC. It was an excellent opportunity for the boys to put into practice the work completed throughout the tour and to experience a different style of opposition ahead of the competitive season.
Overall, the tour was a hugely enjoyable and valuable experience. The boys played plenty of rugby, spent important time together as a squad and returned to school having made significant progress in their preparations. We are now looking forward to continuing to build on the foundations laid in Ireland as we move into and through the season ahead
