Bursaries: Educational Opportunities
The provision of bursaries widens educational opportunities to children from a greater range of backgrounds, which enriches our community. As part of the legacy that our founder, William Lambe, worked so hard to achieve, we continue to value the importance of being inclusive and accessible to deserving children in the local area and beyond. Bursaries are available thanks to the generosity of Old Suttonians and via income from our General Charitable Trust as well as other school finances.
Bursary Information
Bursaries are awarded according to financial need at the discretion of the Scholarship and Bursaries Committee and are reviewed annually. If applicable, the awarded percentage will be applied to tuition fees and boarding fees. Please note that our bursary provision does not cover transportation costs.
The Application Process
To apply for a bursary, please follow the following steps:
- In order for us to consider a bursary application, the prospective pupil needs to be registered with the School first.
- Once the prospective pupil has been registered, please request bursary application forms from the Bursar on 01622 845201. The School uses a company called Bursary Administration Limited (BAL) to collate information about applicants which is then passed to the School.
- Please note that the earliest a bursary application can be received is nine months prior to the prospective pupil’s start date at the School (i.e. applicants looking to join the School in September 2027 may apply for a bursary from January 2027 onwards).
Please also note that while every application is considered carefully and individually by the Bursary Committee, awards are unlikely to be given to those who have significant savings, second properties, high pension contributions or spend beyond the benchmark levels as provided by BAL. It is expected that unless there are specific circumstances both parents should work full time.
It is hoped that at some point in their future, those who receive a Bursary would be willing to donate to the school so that others may benefit too.
For further information about any of the above bursary schemes or the application process, please do not hesitate to contact the Bursar.
