Upcoming Events

We have sought to provide a six-month plan of events covering all aspects of the SVS Foundation and Old Suttonian engagement, whether that be social events, School events or sporting fixtures. We hope that this advanced planning will maximise the number of guests who are able to attend the range of events on offer. The upcoming SVS Foundation and Old Suttonian events are listed below.

Saturday 29th February 2020

Sutton Valence School

Over the last four years, the School has hosted a biennial ‘Next Steps’ careers event, which has seen recent leavers return to the School to talk to the current Sixth Form about university life, job prospects and careers. Given the success and popularity of the first two events in 2016 and 2018, we will be repeating the event on the morning of Saturday 29th February 2020.

As a result, we are looking to put together a panel of recent OS to sit alongside the Headmaster and answer questions from the current Sixth Form, with topics geared towards the first five years after students leave Sutton Valence. The talk is due to start at 11.00am in the Baughan Theatre and last an hour. If you left the School between 2015 and 2018 are you interested in being on the panel, please get in touch with the Development Office.

Tuesday 3rd March 2020

RAF Club, Piccadilly

On behalf of Ian Kay (1941 M), we would like to invite any Sutton Valence leavers from the 1940s or 1950s to lunch at 12.30pm on Tuesday 3rd March at the Royal Air Force Club in Piccadilly. This has been a very successful reunion, traditionally organised on the first Tuesday of March each year by Ian, for leavers of his vintage.

The event will cost £43.00 per head for a three-course meal. If you would like to attend, we would request that you let us know by emailing the Development Office or completing the online registration form on the event page. We would ask that all registrations are received before Friday 21st February 2020.

Sunday 8th March 2020

Sutton Valence School

Rugby at the School continues to go from strength-to-strength and, this year, the 1st XV has reached new heights by progressing to the Semi-Final of the NatWest National Vase competition. Playing in the latter stages of such a prestigious competition is a significant accomplishment and we would invite Old Suttonians to come along to the School to support the team as they take on Wellington School.

The SVS 1st XV has, thus far, enjoyed an unbeaten season; winning nineteen and drawing one of the twenty fixtures. As such, they are full of confidence as they take on Wellington for a place in the final at Twickenham. The Semi-Final is due to start at 1.00pm on Stoney. Refreshments will be available both before and after the match and we would ask that you please pre-register for these using the following online form. If you are only planning to attend the Rugby, there is no need to register.

In addition to the Rugby, the Old Suttonians are also holding an Extraordinary General Meeting in the James Room at 11.00am. The meeting is not scheduled to last longer than an hour, allowing attendees to then have lunch in the Refectory, before watching the match.

The agenda for the meeting is available to view online. You will note that there are a number of important developments regarding the future of the OSA and the SVS Foundation, which are contained within a vision document, available to view here. We would encourage you to attend the meeting and would ask that you please email the OSA to confirm your intention to be there.

Saturday 7th March 2020

Sutton Valence School

After another fantastic match last year, the OS versus School Netball fixture will return on Saturday 7th March at 12.30pm. The match for the Worsfold Cup has proved popular in recent years, so we would ask that you let us know as soon as possible whether you would be available to play.

The OS Girls team is being managed by Lydia Davies (2015 H), so if you would like to register your interest in playing, please get in touch with her. The game will take place inside the Sydney Wooderson Sports Centre, and we would welcome all OS to come along and support. A match tea will be provided in TC's afterwards.

Wednesday 29th April 2020

The Ridge Golf Club

The annual Pickard Trophy Golf Day at The Ridge Golf Club is open to the whole SVS community (Old Suttonians, parents, past parents and governors). Whether you are coming alone, with a friend or as a team of four, you are most welcome to take part. For those not able to register as a team, individuals will be matched to make a balanced four with Stableford rules applying.

The day will start with the first tee-offs at 12.30pm and will end with an early-evening meal and small prize-giving ceremony. For existing members of The Ridge, the day costs £20.00 per person and for non-members, it costs £40.00 per person. Please book using the online registration form. If you would like further information about the event, please email the Development Office.
