Clothworkers’ House

It is a great privilege to take educated teenagers to the doorstep of adulthood.

All Clothworkers are imbued with the spirit of togetherness. Life-long friendships are forged in the tutor rooms, characters fine-tuned to conquer the outside world, a sense of community prevails, of bold adolescents willing to give it a go. We breed confidence in the individual, rejoice in our diversity and pull together in adversity. Our House colour is blue.

The House Community and Staff

Our motto is: ‘If in doubt, do it – especially if it brings joy to people.’ It is our unwavering belief that, at the inaugural re-construction of the vertical House system back in September 2011, the selectors chose a greater quantity of the finest talents in the School under one roof so as to pool together an ensemble of talents from across the globe. It is no surprise to report that Clothworkers’ has become a cradle for future Heads of School. The list now includes more Heads of School and future Oxbridge candidates from Clothworkers’ than all of the other Houses put together: Hannah Bateman; Tom Brunger, Sophie McGannon; Lewis Burnham; Anton Evans and Anne-Lotte Lijesen.

Matthew Jones arrived from a teaching post in Kenya as a new recruit in September 2016. He is an established Geography teacher and with a keen interest in Human Geography. Mr Jones is also Head of Academic Scholars.
