In the heart of the school stands the Nursery and it is here that many of our future Suttonians begin acquiring the skills and knowledge that help them excel and succeed through their school days. It is a happy place filled with voices and laughter and a place where each child is valued and their uniqueness treasured. Our firm belief that early year’s education succeeds with two special ingredients is evident on walking through door.
We know that good relationships are the key to unlocking each child’s potential and establishing this early bond helps the child feel secure and thrive. Our partnership with parents allows for a smooth transition from home to Nursery and an open door policy means parents are kept informed about their child. The Nursery team are all qualified and this professionalism ensures high standards of care and education are maintained. Our communications and interactions with the children are always positive and warm. We encourage them to think and make choices. The children learn to realise they are part of a bigger community and they grow in confidence.
Safe, stimulating environments enrich the early years’ experience and provide endless opportunities to deliver a curriculum that ignites each child’s enthusiasm for learning. Our primary aim is to provide a place where the emotional well-being, the physical development and early literacy and numeracy skills blossom. Our rooms are large and filled with light; they are furnished with natural materials and beautiful resources. Our outdoor area acts as another classroom and is used daily. The children can play on the large field, or pedal their bikes around one of our playgrounds. The countryside is on our doorstep and wellies are a compulsory part of our uniform.
