Oliver Smith's Football Success

09 December 2015

Oliver Smith (Year 6) attended a South East England Prep School football trial at Bede's School on Sunday. Competing against 150 other boys, Oliver acquitted himself brilliantly and was selected for the squad.  He has two matches already confirmed, firstly against Crystal Palace on Friday 11th December and then against Leyton Orient on Tuesday 12th January.

Oliver is aiming to be selected for the Gothia Cup, the World Youth Cup, which is due to be held in Sweden next summer.  The Cup is a showcase for young footballing talent and in the past has helped to launch the careers of the likes of Alan Shearer, Xabi Alonso and Andrea Pirlo.  Hopefully Oliver's performances over the next couple of months will stand him in contention to travel to Gothenburg.  We wish him the best of luck.
