We love books! In Year 1, we celebrated our topic of the ‘Wonderful World of Brilliant Books’ in style, by visiting four different places in one week. We started with exploring the Senior School’s library, where we met the library owl Hedwig and discovering that there are 11,000 books there. It was very exciting going up the stairs to where the oldest students work. We cannot wait to spend more time there in the Summer Term. The following day, we relaxed in our own library and listened to stories read by Mrs Dallamore and Mrs Lovelace. We were amazed to learn that there are nearly 12,000 books there – even more than the Senor School! Finally, we visited the huge Maidstone library and its fantastic children’s area, with a wonderful range of picture books, chapter books, audio CDs and DVDs. We especially enjoyed our conga line around the books, a really fun way to discover something new! Our last stop was a trip to Waterstones bookshop, where we took part in a colouring competition and an eye-spy around the shop. The finale of the week was being able to choose and buy a brand new book to take home. Thank you to everybody who hosted us, for a truly unforgettable week!
