In School, we are constantly encouraging and challenging our pupils to 'do their best', 'never give up' and 'show resilience when things are tough'. In the PE department we encourage these exact same things, as we strive to better ourselves in individual and team disciplines; whilst of course having fun and enjoying Sport.
This week, I would like to focus on the 23 Cross-Country runners who went to Kent College on Tuesday. For those of you unlucky enough to be caught outside on Tuesday afternoon this week, you would have experienced Storm Gareth. As a result of this extreme weather, our pupils were faced with the task of running a 1.5km course for U9s or 2km course for U11s, in the worst wind, rain, mud and at times hail, they would ever have experienced. Each one of our pupils gave it their all, with some superb individual results. Evie Smith actually overtook the hare on her way to winning the U11 Girls race, Jensen Miller finished 2nd in the U11 Boys race, with Zeb Courtney running a year up just behind him in 3rd. SVPS had a whole host of other top twenty finishes in races that boasted a 50 or 60 strong field, meaning we had some great team scores too.
Team Results
U9 Girls - 5th
U11 Girls - 4th
Girls overall - 3rd
U9 Boys - 2nd (by a point)
