U9 and U11 Cross Country at Ashford Prep

10 March 2017

On Monday, our U8, U9, U10 and U11 Cross Country teams travelled to Ashford Prep and we came away with some fantastic results! Eight schools and about sixty pupils per race competed at this event, with boys and girls running together.
The U8 race was won by Zeb Courtney, Anna Lloyd also received a medal for the 1st U8 Girl across the line! The U9 team were up next and Fabian Gooding secured 1st place being 1st across the line, whilst Evie Smith received a Silver medal for the 2nd girl across the line.
Jensen Miller and Scott Smith helped the U9 team's score, both with top 10 finishes. The U10s ran very well, lead by Rhys Harmer who finished 3rd, Jack Travis 5th and Ethan Holmes 6th. The strongest result of the day came in the U11 race, where SVPS not only had the fastest girl runner, Ava Iaquaniello, but we had a clean sweep on the podium too! Daniel Lloyd came 1st, followed by Alfie Miles in 2nd and Alfie Reeve in 3rd place. The final results of this exceptionally strong team were:
U8s came 2nd, U9s came 2nd, U10s came 3rd and U11s came 1st! Once all the scores were read out, SVPS were crowned champions on a combined score of 282, beating 2nd place by over 40 points. A tremendous effort by all the team, well done!
