This week, the children in Year 5 and 6 have been busily rehearsing for the forthcoming production of Wind in the Willows. Rehearsals are where the hard work begins when putting on a production; it is when a paper script of text begins to come alive. The children follow the directions of their teachers, refining their singing, dancing and acting skills collaboratively to ensure that the audience is fully satisfied. Rehearsal requires self-discipline, focus and dedication as well as asking the children to reflect and act on constructive criticism with maturity. All of these attributes are useful not only on the stage, but in preparation for adult life. Rehearsals are going swimmingly (as Toad would say) and everyone is very much looking forward to watching the joyous final production.
