Tennis

In the Summer Term, Tennis is the main sport for girls on Saturdays.  Boys play fixtures during the week against other leading Independent Schools.  Pupils have the opportunity to be coached by LTA/PTR qualified staff during free lessons and at lunchtimes.  These lunchtime sessions also take place during the winter terms and run into the Lent Term preparing our students for Summer Term fixtures.  Major block fixtures are on Saturdays for under 14’s and above and our junior girls’ teams play midweek fixtures.

Regular fixtures include a number of highly prestigious Schools including Epsom College, Ardingly College, City of London Freemen’s, St. John’s Leatherhead and King’s Canterbury School.

Sutton Valence also enters the LTA schools competitions in the various age group categories.

Head of Tennis

Miss Hallett heads up or extensive Tennis provision in conjunction with a team of qualified and skilful coaches.  Having played at Junior County Level, Miss Hallett went on to become an LTA qualified coach at the tender age of 19, coaching in various top independent schools’ summer camps whilst qualifying to become a teacher.  It was here Miss Hallett honed her coaching craft whilst drawing on inspiration from favourite all time players, Steffi Graf, Serena Williams and Andy Murray.  Miss Hallett has built up the Tennis provision at SVS to ensure that our students have every opportunity to develop their skills to become the best players they can be.
