In a School where community is so highly valued, it is hardly surprising that at SVPS the Parents’ Association (SVPSPA) is so strong. The School welcomes and appreciates the support of its parents in all its many manifestations and recognises the importance of the partnership in the development of our children.
The SVPSPA has a Chair and Committee and every form has a Form Representative who plays a key role in communication between School and parents for certain aspects of the wider School life.
The Parents’ Association has provided, and continues to provide, wonderful memories for us to treasure. Charitable ventures are often SVPSPA-organised, such as MacMillan Coffee Mornings or the Mumma Mia Summer Performance. Mumma Mia (our mum’s choir) have also given us a marvellous way to demonstrate to our children and our community the value and power of music and singing in particular and is open to any parent of either the Prep or Senior School.
Great events have been organised by SVPSPA to boost their funds and last year these included the Bonfire Party, Quiz Night and the Christmas Fair. SVPSPA fund-raising is impressive and very significant sums are raised which go back into the School to improve and enhance our facilities.
Special events for our community are the Grandparents’ Day, which often involves 350 visiting us and also the Family Hog Roast and Camp Night, which involved 470 people this year. Every two years, SVPSPA hold a Ball on the Head’s Lawn, on the evening of Speech Day, and these are without exception well-attended and highly enjoyable occasions.
