Pupils in Pre-Prep are able to take advantage of our activities programme, once lessons finish at 3.35pm. When the bell goes, a team of club providers turn up and whisk our pupils off to pursue a host of hobbies and interests.
We have a variety of clubs on offer for our young pupils from dancing, to painting or even developing their linguistic skills in French.
Where possible, the children will work over the year towards a goal in their activity. This might mean gaining a certificate of achievement. So the Karate group, for example, will work towards completing their belt examinations. Pupils, class teachers and parents have to help the children complete tasks during their working week, showing their Karate teacher that they have learnt self-discipline; so washing up gets completed at home and I have even heard that bedrooms are tidied!
Miss Kiki, our dance teacher, provides a full week for our budding dancers. They can experience Jazz, tap and ballet. The pupils then put together a show for parents and pupils to all watch at an assembly midway through the year.
‘Theatre-bugs’, our amateur dramatic group, work towards a termly show for parents to come in and see what our pupils have been doing.
The Pre-Prep team try to ensure pupils come together throughout the year, and so just one of our events, the annual Barn Dance, is a big hit amongst pupils and teachers alike. These opportunities keep the family spirit alive; it is lovely to see older siblings looking after their younger brother or sister and Year 2 children taking care of the younger ones.
