Navy

The Navy section of the CCF, with currently 40 students, is run by three officers who are also part of the Royal Naval Reserves.

Our aim is to teach the cadets basic knowledge of the service and give them the opportunity to gain lifelong skills, including sailing, raft building, scuba diving, power-boating and lifesaving.

Field Days are usually spent at HMS Excellent – the Naval Headquarters in Portsmouth.  Here they integrate with Navy officers and ratings, experience living on board a Navy ship and take part in sailing and water-based activities.

All cadets learn basic first aid and, from the Fifth Form upwards, they help with the running of the section, building their confidence and giving the cadets their first rank and a step on the ladder to becoming Head of Section.

In the Summer Term, the Navy go sailing in Dover Harbour each week.  Here they improve their boating skills and have fun out on the water.  All cadets have the opportunity to attend over 100 courses run by the Navy ranging from windsurfing to diving.

By the time the cadets leave the Navy in the Upper Sixth they will have built up a long list of qualifications and experiences.  The added confidence, skills and qualifications will be an invaluable asset for job or university interviews.
